<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;">The little yellow surfboard that represents This Tourism Week (</span><a href="http://www.thistourismweek.co.za/"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">www.thistourismweek.co.za</span></a><span style="font-family: Courier New;">) has become a well-known icon in the tourism industry in South Africa. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Everywhere I go, everyone knows it &#8211; and I’ll tell you why.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;">It’s because everything I do &#8211; everything, from the fact that I absolutely refuse to wear ties (and shoes, often enough) to the fact that I absolutely will not keep a diary &#8211; everything I do makes up my brand. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;">From the colour of my hair to the cut of my jib, my brand is everything about me. From the way I invoice you to the polite manner in which I turn away business from companies who I consider too anal to share my ‘Barefoot on the beach’ (</span><a href="http://www.barefootclients.co.za/"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">http://www.barefootclients.co.za</span></a><span style="font-family: Courier New;">) approach to business, my brand is everything about me. From the typeface I use for my correspondence to the &#8211; oh yes! &#8211; actual work I do, my brand is everything about me, and everything about me is my brand.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;">That’s why I can’t understand the fuss. You don’t need to define ‘your brand.’ Your brand is YOU.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;">And the little yellow surfboard (which is the icon I chose to represent me) is me.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span><span style="font-family: Courier New;">See? Easily defined&#8230;</span></span></p>
